I installed a new superdrive to my powerbook G4, 17", and I broke the trackpad ribbon connector and now it will not turn on. What will I need to do? Any input is appreciated.

Do both ends of the ribbon have connectors on?

If so it might be worth searching for a spare part or someone who scraps computers - even approach Apple to see if they still have spares.

If you mean the connector under one of the ram chip slots, this connector is part of the logic board. If damaged the normal repair procedure would be to replace the logic board, usually not cost effective. Did you slide back the clip and remove the cable before lifting the top case off? If only the locating clip has come away and the cable isn't being gripped, it can usually be pushed back into place. If you've damaged the short flex cable this is part of the top case.
