Hi,

I just got my first iPhone and was wondering, if anyone here has has experienced this.

Case is: My iPhone can’t detect any other Bluetooth devices. Other Bluetooth devices can’t detect my iPhone. Bluetooth is turned on in both the iPhone and the other devices (my iMac, my MacBook, and my girl friends phone). All devices are of course visible.

Anyone know a fix or should I see the retailer for another iPhone?

Cheers,

The iPhone can only connect to Bluetooth hands free devices. It won't do what you want it to do because it's not supposed to.

Hopefully that'll be fixed with OS 3.0 cause it's kinda embarrassing to see your friends with 50 bucks motorollas transefering files via bluetooth at will while my iPhone can't. :S

The iPhone bluetooth will only connect to hands-free and headset devices.

It will not connect to your computer unless that has changed in the new 3.0 software.

It has changed somewhat with 3.0. My G5 now sees my iphone as a Smart Phone and will connect with it as a hands free device. Using the tethering trick mentioned elsewhere, it will tether with my G5 and allow me to surf wirelessly.

Same here with my iPhone 3g as Baggss. Now shows up as Smart Phone in OSX's bluetooth.

I get the same thing between my 3G (3.0) and my iMac.

EDIT: Oops! Spoke too soon. My iMac and iPhone 'see' each other via bluetooth, but don't want to pair or share... :(

Mine pair, but don't "share" other than as a "Hands free device". That's more than what we had before though.

Apple only says this about the Bluetooth so they are not claiming Full Bluetooth anything.

Stereo Bluetooth
Enjoy music and other audio wirelessly. Pair your iPhone with compatible Bluetooth stereo headphones.

Has the bluetooth problem been solved? I have paired my iphone with my macbook, it sees it & connects for a second & gets kicked off & says not connected. Am i doing something wrong in the settings on my macbook?

Ok, that's a big disappointment. Hubby has a picture of his now deceased dad on the iphone he wanted to transfer. For such a "smartphone" it's not a big thing to ask apple for full bluetooth when crappy cheap phones have it.

Why not just plug it in and import it to Iphoto ? Will take 10 secs

He did want to bluetooth it to someone else, but now he is having problems getting the photo from the mac book to the iphone. He only got the iphone last night so he is still fumbling around with it a bit. I have had my iphone for a while but haven't used the iphoto application as of yet.
