• The Mac-Forums Community Guidelines (linked at the top of every forum) are very clear, we respect US law and court precedence when it comes to legality of activity.

    Therefore to clarify:
    • You may not discuss breaking DVD or BluRay encryption, copying, or "ripping" commercial, copy-protected DVDs.
    • This includes DVDs or BluRays you own. Even if you own the DVD or BluRay, it is still technically illegal under the DMCA to break the encryption. While some may argue otherwise, until the law is rewritten or the US Supreme Court strikes it down, we will adhere to the current intent of the law.
    • You may discuss ripping or copying unprotected movies or homemade DVDs.
    • You may discuss ripping or copying tools in the context that they are used for legal purposes as outlined in this post.

ok I want to upload a movie onto youtube that is around 20min. this is too long. problem is, I have music in it and if I cut it in half , part two wont start off where the music was cut. how do I do this?
no problems with cutting from the beginning to half way as it keep the music. but its part two and three that stuff up.
how can I section it off. so if it were a 30min video, how do I do part 1,2, and 3 whilst keeping the music?
cheers

Someone might have a better answer if they knew what version of software you were using.

I would do an export to QuickTime using a decent codec such as Apple Intermediate Codec (AIC) and reimport to iMovie and then make your cuts perhaps in two or three projects. Actually since I have them, I might use QuickTime Pro or Final Cut.

Do as Xstep says

But if you haven't got Quicktime Pro or Final Cut then MPEG Streamclip can do simple edits like cutting a film in two
