We need more info. What brand and model router is this? You said the name is Linksys but we still need the model. You do not need the CD. I take it you are using this with a Mac? Which model?

MOST Linksys routers you plug in a network cable and open say Safari or Firefox and put in 192.168.1.1 and log in to the router. If it's a brand new router the password usually is admin with no username.

Not to sound mean but not all routers use 192.168.1.1. Some use 0.1 and some 1.254.

Right, but he specified Linksys. ;) Every Linksys I've ever worked with has had the same default settings.

Yeah he did say Linksys. :D There are many who think all routers use the same address. Was just saying they do not. Most all Linksys at least in the past few years have though.

The interesting part is I told the OP how to get into his router. The OP never posted back.

Always post back and let us know if the help we gave worked as in the future others might see this thread and be helped.

I've seen Linksys use 192.168.0.1, and also, when running the automatic setup, if there is a conflict with the modem, it will change the range to 192.168.2.1 sometimes.
