What's the degree of difficulty/cost factor in replacing the processor in a G4 Quicksilver? Can it even be done?

you can swap it with another Quicksilver or Quicksilver 2002 processor, but your limited to 733, 800, Dual 800, 867, 933, or Dual 1ghz.

But not it is not difficult at all, just unscrew the fan from the case, and pop the clips on the heat sync and then carefully pull the processor off.

Right now my processor is 933MHz and 2mb L3 cache. How much do the dual 1gb run for? Any good sites to order it from? Will there be a big difference in performance from the 933MHz and the 1gb?

i bought mine on ebay...they seem to go for around $100. I think they have a larger cache also, but im not for sure...mine did run better because of the 2nd processor

You just need to be sure that its a Quicksilver processor before buying it.
