How do I get Terminal to be more colorful? In general, I prefer white on black, but it would be nice if ls and nano had color codes for easy reading. Or is that a per-application setting? I've seen colors on a few GNU/Linux distros, so I know it must be possible.

Way... way too many specs to list.
Sure, do the following....

echo "export CLICOLOR=1
export LSCOLORS=ExFxCxDxBxegedabagacad" >> .profile

then open a new terminal window and ls to your hearts content.

Thanks. Could you possibly point me to a guide that explains LSCOLORS so I can tweak it?
