    Therefore to clarify:
    • You may not discuss breaking DVD or BluRay encryption, copying, or "ripping" commercial, copy-protected DVDs.
    • This includes DVDs or BluRays you own. Even if you own the DVD or BluRay, it is still technically illegal under the DMCA to break the encryption. While some may argue otherwise, until the law is rewritten or the US Supreme Court strikes it down, we will adhere to the current intent of the law.

Hi,

I have been trying to export my animated screenshots from a program called Screenium into Final Cut Express 4 for an instructional video. When I view what was captured in Screenium, the picture is very clear. However, when I bring it into Final Cut the quality is severely diminished. Any ideas on what I am doing wrong? I think it may be a formatting issue somewhere in the process, but my experience with Final Cut is quite basic. Any suggestions would help! Thanks.

Some guessing...

First, your FCE project needs to be set to handle the size of the video. If that is an option when you create the project, then choose an appropriate size, I suspect some HD option.

Even at that, if you are doing a whole screen capture, that might be bigger than 1920x1080 and the reduction will cause some degree of blurriness to things like text.

After getting the above set up well, try a short export to see if the quality is as bad as the viewer might suggest. If the viewer isn't 100% of size, then it won't look so sharp.

One trick people do is set the screen to 1280x720. I haven't tried it but look into DisplayConfigX. Be cautious as the April 15th post at MacUpdate may suggest it isn't supported any longer.
