how are you trying to sync?

are you going into the movies tab on the ipod (in itunes) and checking sync movies?

I learned two things today, the iPod Touch needs the format to be in h.264

and this site is pretty worthless when it comes to help and advice

I rip everything in H.264 and always have so I would not have know it was even an issue. You probably could have consulted the Apple Tech Spec page for the Touch and found this out a lot faster.

Maybe because you are asking a question about an illegal practice? And, it is against forum rules.

People here are ALWAYS helpful...even to us newbies. ;D

Yep, no Apple techs here. No one gets paid for tech support around here. This site is filled with normal everyday people, just like you, learning by doing and helping where they're able, out of the kindness of their heart. And nope, none of us know everything. In fact there probably is more we don't know than what we do.

edit:
And perhaps you forgot about all of these:
