• The Mac-Forums Community Guidelines (linked at the top of every forum) are very clear, we respect US law and court precedence when it comes to legality of activity.

    Therefore to clarify:
    • You may not discuss breaking DVD or BluRay encryption, copying, or "ripping" commercial, copy-protected DVDs.
    • This includes DVDs or BluRays you own. Even if you own the DVD or BluRay, it is still technically illegal under the DMCA to break the encryption. While some may argue otherwise, until the law is rewritten or the US Supreme Court strikes it down, we will adhere to the current intent of the law.
    • You may discuss ripping or copying unprotected movies or homemade DVDs.
    • You may discuss ripping or copying tools in the context that they are used for legal purposes as outlined in this post.

I have several archived disk images I cannot open in Leopard. Some are extension .toast (hmlg) and others are .img (NDIF disc image). I double click on the .toast images, Toast 5.2.1 fires up and I choose 'mount. I use 'open with' and choose Toast for the .img files. In both cases I get the message - Couldn't complete the last command because of a MAC OS Error. Result Code = 49152. In some cases these archives are all I have. I cannot remember which version of Toast created them but I can find out if it is important.

With further experimentation I found that if I choose mount and then open DVD Player my movies are sometimes loaded up, not always. I can get them to open with Disk Image Mounter but this just displays the Audio and Video_TS folders and I cannot load these up in anything useful. I need to be able to make copies from these images. Any ideas?

Thanks

Phil.

This would be a guess, but I believe you would need a later version of Toast that is supported on OS X 10.5.

rman, no where does iwonder2 mention which version of Mac OS he is using. It would be nice to know though.

iwonder2, if you can see the Video_TS folders on all the discs, then at least the image is opening correctly. Perhaps after getting the image open, you can open Toast to create a DVD copy, or a more up to day disc image.

Once the image is open, you should be able to use DVD Player to open via "Open DVD Media..." under the file menu.
