Battery not detected

Hi

I recently replaced my failed Seagate 80gb hard drive with a 250gb western digital and all is fine except my battery is now not detected by the macbook. The battery icon has a cross in it and the battery was charging ok before I changed the hard drive. Any advice? Macbook model 1.1, 2 GHz.
