Url link in mail message not received by recipients

I've called Apple re why when I paste a URL into a mail message, many recipients don't get the actual link, but just text. They say it depends on what they use to read mail and their settings (duh), but can't say more. Why can't an Outlook user receive linked url when their Outlook is set to send/receive in html or rich text?:Shouting:

Which version of Outlook? Which version of Mail? Which provider? Any security software being used on the windows end?

(I.e. there are a lot of factors it could be... )

One possible reason is that you do not use the complete URL format like this:
