Macbook Pro disc drive rejects all discs

As the subject suggests, my Macbook Pro disc drive rejects all discs about 10 seconds after inserting it.

Is this a critical problem? Any ideas?

MBP, iPad 2 64, 2 x iPod Touch, MBA, 2 x iPhone 3g
Are these ALL disks or only writable ones from the same batch, does a commercial DVD work for instance?
