IMAC G5 Intel Core 2 Duo 2.26GHz 3GB RAM, Macbook 2.1 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo 1GB RAM
if i ran a windows version on my imac would i be able to install windows live messenger on the copy? seeming apples versions of msn suck :)

if by windows version you mean dual-boot into windows, then yes you would be able to run anything windows-specific

If you only need live messenger, and don't want to dual boot, you can look into either Darwin (which may support live messenger, I don't know) or using a virtual machine within OSX so you don't have to leave OSX just for messenger.

the 3 big VM tools for Mac I'm aware of (VMWare, Parallels, VirtualBox) all support unity mode so it makes the program you're running feel less like you're running it in a separate os and more like you're running it on your mac. VMWare and Parallels both cost money. VirtualBox is free open source.

Agreed. Why not just use a Mac client that connects with MSN? You can thus save yourself having to install Windows just to use MSN.
