dvd problem

HELP!!!! i am going on a long haul flight in a few days time and, instead of taking a load of dvd;s with me, i was hoping to be able to upload a few onto my macbook so i can watch them on the plane,

i have ben told about mac the ripper but have downloaded it and cant seem to get it to work, anyone have any thoughts as im getting desperate now!!!

i only want to compress them onto my macbook so i can watch them im not interested in burning them!!

The forum rules are rather strict on this topic. I'd recommend you look into a program called Handbrake.
