My Macbook died in January of 2008, a month after the warranty expired.
I am starting a Facebook group in order to compile objective information (serial number, date of purchase and date of death, model, country of purchase, etc.) about this unfortunate problem. Mac has claimed that there were no "known issues" with the logic boards; however, just a quick scan of the many discussion forums devoted to this topic suggests otherwise.
The group name is "Dead Logic Board (Mac Computer)". If your computer has suffered a similar fate, please add your information to this list. I'm not sure if anything can come out of this, but it would be interesting to see how many people have been affected.
