• The Mac-Forums Community Guidelines (linked at the top of every forum) are very clear, we respect US law and court precedence when it comes to legality of activity.

    Therefore to clarify:
    • You may not discuss breaking DVD or BluRay encryption, copying, or "ripping" commercial, copy-protected DVDs.
    • This includes DVDs or BluRays you own. Even if you own the DVD or BluRay, it is still technically illegal under the DMCA to break the encryption. While some may argue otherwise, until the law is rewritten or the US Supreme Court strikes it down, we will adhere to the current intent of the law.
    • You may discuss ripping or copying unprotected movies or homemade DVDs.
    • You may discuss ripping or copying tools in the context that they are used for legal purposes as outlined in this post.

I am a freelance animator. I am starting to amass a huge pile of external hard drives now that all of my projects have gone HD. I have about 10TB in storage going on right now, that means I have about 5TB of data, all master project files with raw media, and it is all on 1 set of drives, then mirrored onto a second set, making 10TB total. Obviously I have let this go for too long and now have alot of work ahead of me.
So my questions is this… I want to find a storage/backup solution that will handle all of my current 10TB and allow for up to about 30TB(maybe more?) over the next 2 years. I am not sure about Tape backups as they seem so archaic, but is this the best solution? Can I buy a swappable raid drive and just buy multiple disks for it? Obviously something like Blu-Ray backups are way too small, what are my options and what is best long term?
note: I do need to access the files once or twice a year, but not usually more than that, so I need something that I can ignore for a few months at a time, but can also use without worrying about wearing it out.
