Newegg.com - CORSAIR 2GB 240-Pin DDR2 SDRAM DDR2 667 (PC2 5300) Desktop Memory - Desktop Memory

I was just wondering because it is fairly priced and I didn't see why it wouldn't be, but I just wanted to double check.

Thanks,
Chris

I don't believe it is.

- the price is wayyy too low
- it doesn't have the heat sinks
- it's 667mhz ram, you want 800mhz

This is the stuff you want:

Memory Upgrades for your Mac Pro Quad Core 2.8GHz (Quad-Core x 1) - 800MHz Memory Bus – Early 2008 at OtherWorldComputing.com

It's more expensive (as it should be)...because it's the right stuff! :)

One thing you should be aware of cmstewart87 - the Mac Pro requires ECC Fully Buffered ram - you can't just take any ram off the shelf and throw it in there (although it'd be nice ;) )

That ram Nick listed is really decently priced - the place I normally shop at that usually has decent prices is more expensive then macsales on ram so I'd definitely look there.

Cool. Yeah I'm new to how Mac work. I've been a PC guy building my own computers for awhile but I need my Mac for film stuff and realized how different they were when I opened my MacPro up haha

Yeah, mac pro ram isn't exactly cheap... but it's sure nice to have once you get that extra ram in there.

The mac pro is basically built like a high end workstation / server in the pc market - if you look at Xeon motherboards (I'm pretty sure about all of them, but definitely the dual processor ones) they all require ecc ram :)

I'm curious how AE is for the Mac, are you using it with Premiere or Final Cut? How well does it work? etc. Either way, since this question is kinda getting off topic, feel free to pm me the answer if you don't mind.
