how to turn off voice prompt

im using a MacBook for the first time and accidently turned on the voice prompt, so some voice is saying every letter i type and reads to me, its driving me crazy.

system preferences>speech>text to speech tab

check/uncheck whatever you want on or off i always have everything off because like you it drives me crazy.

perfect, that worked, thanks

its a neat feature, but not if you dont know how to turn it on or off
