• The Mac-Forums Community Guidelines (linked at the top of every forum) are very clear, we respect US law and court precedence when it comes to legality of activity.

    Therefore to clarify:
    • You may not discuss breaking DVD or BluRay encryption, copying, or "ripping" commercial, copy-protected DVDs.
    • This includes DVDs or BluRays you own. Even if you own the DVD or BluRay, it is still technically illegal under the DMCA to break the encryption. While some may argue otherwise, until the law is rewritten or the US Supreme Court strikes it down, we will adhere to the current intent of the law.
    • You may discuss ripping or copying unprotected movies or homemade DVDs.
    • You may discuss ripping or copying tools in the context that they are used for legal purposes as outlined in this post.

I just converted to Mac and have my fancy Canon HF100 Vixia. I was looking forward to editing some videos but have not been able to import a single file.

I learned that only files imported straight from the camera work.

However, I am still not able to import anything.

Here is what I am doing:
Open iMovie
File -> Import -> Movies
My Canon HDD appears
My folder structure is Canon -> Private -> AVCHD -> BDMV -> Stream
I have one MST file in there, but it is greyed out and I can't import it
iMovie can't find any files even if I import from the Canon HDD

I have tried with a USB cable from the Mac to the HDMI output. I have tried with an SDHD card reader that I used on my X60.

My iMovie is up to date with version 8.0.1.

I guess my painless conversion period is now over.
