So i go to start the computer 3 days ago and i got the 9 beeps. 3 short, 3 long, 3 short... A quick look online and it says the macbook pros (mines not a macbook pro but i thought i would try it) do this when there is a defective firmware update... and to let it continue and it will attempt to fix itself and eventually start. So i let it keep beeping for about 15 minutes and eventually it started... Great

So the next day i go to start it, and i get the beeps again. I let it beep for over an hour and no luck, still wont start. I brought it to the apple store, and even though there were 4 mac geniuses there helping no customers, they wouldn't even take a quick look to tell me anything.. had to schedule an appointment... So tomorrow i go in to see... Unless anyone here has a remedy?

So much for the sales lady telling me that macs are so much more reliable than PC's... Only had it for about 5 weeks. :'(

Have you installed any third party RAM by any chance? If so, put the original RAM back in and see if this solves the problem (it could be faulty RAM).

To be fair, no product is indestructible or immune from breakage. Just because something is supposedly more reliable doesn't mean it won't break or that there is a guarantee that will last longer than a competitors product. Reliability is a very subjective term. Nonetheless, you shouldn't be having problems after 5 weeks.
