I am interested in the iphone, but if I don't get the data plan and just sign up for a service then the phone has wireless so I can simply go on the internet right??? Will i be charged for the wireless web browsing or will it be free like a laptop??

AT&T flat out told me you have to get a DATA plan or they will not sell you an iPhone.

What Baggss said though is very true. WiFi is WiFi. If the WiFi is free it's free.
