Is it possible to boot linux, that is already installed and working on my external drive, on my macbook?

I am able to boot to linux from the pc's at work but cannot seem to get it going on my macbook. I've read around and haven't been able to find anything other than reformatting the drive using boot camp.

Yes, it's possible but you'll need "rEFIt". Download from here. Be sure to read the installation instructions.

Regards.
