I want to start off by saying hi to everyone as I'm a newbie. I received a PowerMac G4 with 23" cinema display monitor from a family member. I want to get rid of the monitor (due to space limitations) and would like to use my Sharp LC-26SB14U 26" LCD bedroom TV for a monitor. The TV has a PC Input - analog RGB D-sub 15-pin. Is there anyway to hook the PowerMac G4 up to my TV and use that as a monitor? Any input would be great!!

Here's some more of the TV specs if needed:

It has an analog input for "PC" rather than a DVI input? That's kinda bizarre. Well if you don't need to use both of the HDMI ports on the TV, then I would get a cable that converts DVI to HDMI and use that instead.

So that would be all I need?

Yes. Of course I am making an assumption that your G4 has a DVI output (for LCD monitors) to begin with. It's been standard for quite some time now.

I would imagine it's just an SVGA port. Couldn't he get away with a DVI=>SVGA cable? That's what I use with my Sharp 37" and it looks great.

If it is just an analog SVGA port for CRT monitors, then I imagine it would connect direct to that analog PC port on the TV, wouldn't it?

I looked up an Apple article with discussions on what graphics ports the PowerMac G4s came with. It has pictures with explanations. Philly... if you could take a look at the back of your Mac and review this page to be sure of what your Mac supports, we can be more certain of our advice. I should have suggested this first time around.

I have a ADC port and a VGA port on the back of the tower.

How's video quality when using vga to vga cable?

I'm not sure I know how to answer that question. Probably less than ideal since the graphics card is converting digital to analog, and the TV is converting analog to digital. If you want a digital signal maintained, get an ADC-to-DVI and a DVI-to-HDMI adapter. That may be rather pricey though and potentially subject to noise artifact.
