I just replaced the hard drive in my MacBook Pro (2006 version), which required me to unscrew and pull off the keyboard. Everything went fine until I tried to open it with the latch and it wouldn't open. I had to practically pry it open with both hands. It WAS working fine prior to the hard drive replacement. Is it possible I didn't attach the keyboard properly for the latch to work?
Make certain the keyboard sits flush with the panel around the side and is even with the top case when it's closed. You might have to do a bit of jiggling to get everything lined up properly. Just be careful not to apply too much force moving the keyboard in place.
