Organizing/Importing into iTunes

My Friend recently gave me a ton of music, and I naturally wanted to import it into iTunes. The music is already in the iTunes music folder, along with my music.
My question is, does anyone konw of a way to import songs into iTunes WITHOUT recopying all of the music I previously loaded?
