I've never burned a video DVD, but I think Burn will do the job. It really depends on the video codec. AVI is just a container, but I'm going to guess it's DivX or Xvid.

As long as it plays in Quictime, then Burn will be able to burn a good disc

If not there is always iDVD

Error messages? What program are you trying to burn with?

There is also Toast. You have to pay for it but it might be what you're looking for.

When you say burn an avi to dvd, are you looking to burn a dvd to put in your dvd player or are you looking to make a data dvd?

Does Burn come up and say it's an incompatible file and offer to convert it to DVD MPg? I just tried it here with an AVI and that is what it asked me. I am converting now just as a test.

I am using "Burn" - I am wanting to make a DVD for your dvd player! Thanks.

Yeah, it converts then it doesn't work once I click burn.

EDIT: I tried again and when I put the MPG file in and try burning, it comes up with this error message:

I just tried it all the way through. First I put in the .AVI and it asked to convert and converted it to filename.mpg. Then I put in the .mpg and selected Video, DVD (Not VCD or Divx) and it asked to author it to a DVD and I said yes, that took a few minutes and it made the Video_TS, Audio_TS and then an .ISO. Then it burned and finished. DVD plays fine.

Using Verbatim, TDK, Sony Blanks.

What bugs me about that error you posted is it keeps saying .AVI and nothing about .mpg which is the file that was converted from the .AVI.
