I take it the screen did not crack? Any other damage?

It sounds like the Hard Drive died during the fall hence the clicking and blinking folder. Which Macbook? Old White one? New one? With either you can purchase a new Hard Drive from say New Egg and install it yourself. Put in your OSX DVD that came with the Macbook and install away.

Some examples for you. 2.5" SATA Laptop drive.

I would go to an Apple Store if you can and tell them you lost your OSX DVD for your Macbook in a move and be sure and tell them which model as the DVD's are machine specific. That way everything that came with your machine will be there including iLife.

The more expensive way is purchase a full install of Leopard but that costs way more and you will not get the applications that came with your MB.

And yes on the hard drive. It's easy to install. If you need help just ask.

Do you live here in the states or in another country? Here in USA New Egg has some of the lowest prices on drives. A lot better than anything local to me for sure!

Yes, if you take the Macbook to them they should be able to figure out what DVD you need.
