Blank DVDs of any vendor are not recognized and at times the DVDs do not mount and get rejected. Solution?

Also, data CDs recorded on Windows PCs are not read and I get a message that the CD is blank. Solution(s) requested.

Try re-installing the drivers off of the Mac OSX disk #1. How does it work on your Mac side?

Problem number 1: Have you tried to clean the drive? Drive cleaning kits are sold at most vendors which stock computer accessories. Optical drives are more sensitive to DVD record\playback than CD because of the increased optical power required.

Problem number 2: Make sure when you burn a CD on a PC that the CD is properly closed and you're using standard burning - not multi-burn, in other words leaving the CD open to additional burning, nor pre-formatting the CD first.

Regards.
