Like windows for locking the computer while logged in (winkey + L).. is there a mac equivalent? I'd like to lock my computer while leaving it unattended for a short matter of time without having to log out.

Best regards.

Open Keychain Access (/Applications/Utilities/Keychain Access.app) > Keychain Access > Preferences > General > Show Status in Menu Bar. You will now see a pad lock in the menu bar. Click that and choose Lock Screen.

This is the closest thing I know to a hotkey for locking the screen.

When I needed to lock mine off and on I just put the password protection on the screensaver (so that you have to enter the password to stop the screensaver) and then just added a hot corner to activate the screensaver.
