Finder keeps popping up

I did some software updates on my Mac G4 (OS X). After I restarted, my FINDER keeps coming to the fore front -- no matter what application I'm currently working in. It does it every few minutes and it is very annoying!! How do I make this stop? Need help ASAP. Thank you all in advance.

can you try moving the com.apple.finder.plist to the desktop and restart your mac. See what happens
oh it can be found in ~/library/preference

If you are using Stuffit Deluxe this is a known problem.
Open System Preferences and disable Stuffit AVR.

If not, keep searching. Only fix I know of, sorry.
