I'm bringing a 10.4 Powerbook G4 up to Leopard. My son (who's the Mac expert... not me) left me two DVDs (but no instructions): an "Upgrade" (2Z691-6039-A) and a "Drop-in" (2Z691-6040-A). What's the difference?

Thanks!

G'day dxp and welcome to the forums.

The codes quoted are discs from a MacBook and these will probably not work on a PowerBook G4. System discs which come with a model are generally compatible with that model only.

Looks like you will have to purchase what is known as the full retail install Leopard DVD. Then suggest you do not go the upgrade route, but do an Archive and Install and all your files will be on a folder entitled 'Old OS'.
