I've actually been using Songbird about 99.9% of the time but even with my WD external HD hooked up via USB, I'll get hiccups in my songs for about 2 seconds or so, every once in a while and it's annoying.
There was an update to iTunes yesterday which claimed to make it faster, and so I figured this was an opportunity to try it again for kicks. Songbird, imports my library blazingly fast, while now as I sit here, iTunes seems to be kludging its way through like molasses. And this is only for the adding files part, can't imagine how long it will take to do the gapless processing for everything.
Why is iTunes so slow, and is there a way to tweak it for faster handling of importing a library ?
