I purchased the upgrade discs from allmac.com that are specifically for the emac.
Here is the link
SFR-6080 OS, Mac OS X 10.4 Tiger, (DVD), eMac, Apple Mac iPod

I put the disc in to upgrade....
It checked the install disc
then starting copying files the it told me I had an error and to restart.
I saved the log file....but it is on the mac

I am now seeing this:

panic(cpu 0 caller 0x002DE020): Unable to find driver for this platform: "PowerMac4.4".

etc.....

The disk says it is for an emac.

I have attached a "screen shot" from my phone you will hopefully get the gist of the error

Thanks in advance I am new to Macs and got this one for our daughter.

emac Mac OS X (10.3.x) 1GHZ - 1GB Ram - OS X 10.3.9

System restore discs are usually only operable with the model machine they came with. There are seven models of eMac, from the 700MHz released in 2002 through to the 1.42 released in 2005.

You may have to look for the full retail install DVD, which is a black coloured disc.

Keep an eye on auction sites such as eBay, Craiglist etc. If you are in the States your chances of picking up a copy are pretty good. Also this forum has a buy, sell and trade section. It may pay to advertise there.
