Hi all
I started a reinstallation ( with preservation of users) of my 10.3.9 Panther on my iMac g4.U used the panther installation discs Everything went fine until i was ordered to put in disc number 2.
Everything turned grey and apparently the computer don´t read the disc. So there I am stuck. Luckily I have another mac.
I have left the iMac
to stand there and be ashamed awaiting for rescue.
When I started up i choosed the installation disc as startupdisc.
What shall I do now?. Can i force quit the installation and retry?
Shall I choose another way to aktivate the installation disc.
Or shall I reinstall from the old original os10 disc or my Tiger disc?

Try deselecting everything which requires disk 2. This can be done by clicking "customize" before beginning the installation. Choose only the base system to be installed, and you shouldn't even need to use disk 2 at all. That way if it is damaged, you can still have a running system, but will need to find another way to install whatever bundled software came with your computer.

Thanx
Problem was solved when I restarted the computer with the disc still there.
And you´re right I forgot to click custom install.:Smirk:
