how much the fish eye set you back?

Are those lights analog? If they're not digital, check out the Alien Bee Vagabond II at AlienBees: Illuminating the Galaxy with Professional Photographic Lighting Equipment . It's $299. It won't work with more than one, maybe two, digital strobes at one time though. That's the cheapest portable solution I can think of.

By the way, how do you like the Kata 3n1-20? I've been trying to find the "ideal" bag for quite a while, and I am considering the Kata.

The 3n1-20 is small, but that's what I wanted for when I go do things like hike. Even now I have it stuffed full of heavy crap. The Crumpler 7mdh is my carry everything bag.

I have in my Kata right now, the 5DII with 24-70 attached, 70-200 f/2.8, the fish eye, and room for two more smaller lenses like the 17-40 and something similar in size. Up in the top compartment I have the sekonic, the 580EX II, and two PW PII's. I love my crumpler, but a shoulder bag is not ideal if you're doing a lot of moving around. If you need something big to carry everything to a shoot, then that or the brazillion dh is great.

what do you all think of my list? mind you this is my first D-SLR and i have only had it for two weeks..lol

i just researched the 3n1-20... that bag looks awesome.. wow is all i can say.

PWPII is the Pocketwizard Plus II

Your list looks great. Just make sure you have fun with photography, regardless of what you have/don't have.

The 50mm 1.8 is a great little lens. About $90 dollars off B&H. But do note that 50mm on your XSi would really be 80mm, which might be a bit too tight for some situations. Nevertheless, try and test it out at a camera store if you can.

the 10-20 get used for work (it gets a good workout), the rest are mostly for fun and games.

I loved using my friend's Sigma 10-20 on my 30D for wide angle portraits. The 17-40 is my next buy though. I need wide for the full frame.

well i wanted to use it to take pictures of flowers and insects and such, like a bee pollenating a flower or something. would a zoom be better for that?

Depends. How scared of bees are you?

I had the 50mm 1.8. It was a good lens but, not sharp enough for me when shooting flowers and such.I found the sigma 30mm for shooting close low light and the 60mm for macro.The canon 60mm is the sharpest lens I own. When shooting bees, if they are looking for pollen they wont bother you. This shot was taken with the 60mm from about 10". You can see the pollen stuck to its back.

Canon 60mm f/??? and this is a fixed lens?

It's a prime. Prime lenses don't zoom so the aperture doesn't change.

yes the canon 60mm is a prime lens f2.8 is the aperture. like I said before it is a fabulous lens, great for macro and it also dose nice portrait work. the only down side is its a EF-S (wont work on full frame bodies).

i have 2 questions though

1) when you say full frame bodies do you mean that the lens wont crop off the picture and will be a full frame lens?

2) are all USM lenses compatible with full frame bodies

i was planing on getting mostly USM lenses

how much was your 60mm f/2.8

I believe I payed $350 for it about 3 years ago.USM (UltraSonic Motor) is in better quality lens. I dont know if the 17-55 IS has it or not. if it dose then your answer is no.
