:)

thanks, but you don't have to welcome me to the mac world.

:) i introduced me some years ago (when the first iMac came out).

but this is my first OWN mac, which i 85% paid on my self.

it's this way:
if i purchase in Manor (a store in CH), we (that means my family) got a rabatt (15% off the price), so if i would by the mac in manor, i'd get id for 85% of the price.

well, my parents got a furnitures store, and a good client of us is an apple store dealer.
wh bought all our macs (two iMac (first one, DV special edition), iMac 20" TFT, iBook, and this G5) from him.

so i had to buy the mac by him, but my parents paid me the difference to the manor.

;)

but the rest is selfpaid (ca. 4300CHF, plus 5GB ram->1100CHF)

;) i love this machine, it's really fast.

well, i guess i'll need final cut pro to get the maximum out of the system :)

i'll have to.
or else i lose my "hardcorefanoftheredhotchilipeppers"-status ;)

unfortunatelly i didn't had enought $$$ left for a 30"
but i calculated, that the price per pixel is for the 20" the cheapest.
-> you would go better in purchasing two 20". this makes 568'000 pixel less than the 30", but also 1000$ less than the 30"

;) you know what i mean.

Only a 20" display? A 30" display is needed for DREAM MACHINE status! ;) I'm just kidding. That is one nice set-up you have there. I would LOVE to have your computer. You're a lucky guy Fabio. :)

Actually, I find 30" monitors to be ridiculous. I don't like monitors bigger than 20" generally.

I was just joking. I agree that the 30" is far t large, unless you use your computer for a lot of video editing and you screen your videos on your computer. I love the 20" on my iMac and find it to be big enough without being too big. I have never tried a 23", but I think that would be my limit.

i'd say, a 20" for working and a 19" (1280*1024) for palettes, working tools, adium, itunes, and some widgets is a perfect team.

at least for me ;)

I'd just be glad of an external 19" lcd to hook my 12" iBook up to...:)

Sounds like what the Catholics call "Confirmation." There are few things more rewarding than saving for a long time and purchasing exactly what you had been saving for.
