That is CompUSA's offer on Apple laptops.

I see all over the place people trying to sell their old computers for prices close to new.

If you open this link, you will see a 17 PB 1.5 is 2300, a 15 PD 1.5 is 2100.

WHY DO PEOPLE KEEP ON ASKING MORE MONEY FOR USED THAN ANYONE COULD PAY FOR NEW?

Memory?

OK you got one gig of Ram, that's 200$ and certainly not worth the dings, scratches, viris and porn poluting your hard drive...

You paid tax?

Well if you had ordered online, you wouldn't have, so don't try to make people pay for your stupidity.
And besides, you get you tax back in 99% cases.

You got software?

Good for you, but did you PAY for it? Do you have a licence for it?

If you paid for it, then sell the software separately, you'll make more money...

If you stole it, it's worthless, nothing any dummy couldn't do with Limewire...

So basically, someone please explain to me WHY ASKING SO MUCH FOR A USED COMPUTER?

Because you love it?
Or maybe it has sentimental value?

Fair enough, then maybe you should keep it...

those are brand new laptops with varying built-to-order options, hence the different prices. not to mention they're the same price apple charges...

there is also the fact that when the g4 1.67Ghz PBs came out, the prices dropped on the 1.5's. A friend of mine bought a 1.5 for $2300, and when the 1.67 came out... it was cheaper than he paid for his 1.5. Some people might be trying to get the original price out of it, instead of the current market price.

the apple store HAD the older versions in stock (in the back) and when I tried to buy a 12" PB w/super at $1500 the sales kid told me they do not have any in the back and that they are not authorized to sell older versions anyway!?!?! I had called 4hrs earlier and the guy on the phone said they had plenty of the older stock left in the back and were selling them for $1500 with super but when i got there all the sales guys told me that they can not sell old versions and that whoever i talked to was mistaken!?

frustrated i was and i didn't buy one. it made me re-think my options though so it was kinda like a blessing in disquise but geez...Apple store employees need to get their stories straight!

I love the fact I can buy a new PB 12" w/Superdrive new from Apple with the Educational discount than I could buy a used PB 12" off eBay.

It confuses me as well, but people buy them. Apple just seems to retain value better than PCs. You see year old laptops being sold for within $100-$200 of a new one. I have no idea why though.

You have a valid concern but just so you know, not ALL people get away without paying tax online. I paid $165 in tax to the Apple Store. The EDU discount covered said tax. I broke even basically.

The rest of what you have to say is 100% valid.
