G5 quad core 2.5 GHz
Hi all

I recently bought a G5 2.5 GHz quad core with no hdd and installation disk package. I bought a Hitachi SATA hard drive and tried to install 9.2.2 I had already then 10.4.
That was the plan.
When I inserted the 9.2.2 install CD and held down key C a small icon came up with a flashing question mark. It was as far as I could go. Once or twice an other screen came up showing a refresh arrow and a right arrow but nothing happend when I clicked on them.
It may sounds stupid but I'm rookie with mac it is my first one.
So any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks a lot
Robert

The G5s cannot boot in to OS9, only a G4 or earlier can do that, so the OS9 based installer will not run

what do you need OS9.2 for?

Thanks for the quick respond. Well, that was the only available install disk at home. I wanted to start with it and then use the 10.4 upgrade disk.
I'm just wondering whether it is possible to contact Apple and ask them for a replacement install pack as it came with the computer but got lost later on...
I wouldn't buy a new one if it wasn't necessary.
By the way, like your avatar. :)

THe 10.4 upgrade disk will only upgrade from an earlier version of OS X, not from 9, so basically 9 is completely unnecessary

Have you got the grey restore disks that came with the G5?

I'm with you...
Unfortunately I don't have any original disks as the previous owner has lost them.
Seems like I'm screwd without them... :(
