Unable to see ~/Users/Shared via network -- permissions problem?

Hi,

I have a strange problem with ~/Users/Shared which I suspect is a permissions problem but which I cannot seem to solve with my admittedly limited Unix skills. I hope someone can help.

I can view & edit ~/Users/Shared directly on my iMac without problems. The issue is with networking. Until recently, I could navigate to the same directory from my MacBook Pro over my home network in Finder by successively clicking through iMac HD -> Users -> Shared, but now I cannot see 'Shared' when I click into iMac HD/Users.

The odd thing is, I can still mount iMac HD/Users/Shared directly from Finder by selecting as a shared resource (it is shared from the iMac), but if I mount iMac HD/Users, I can't see 'Shared'! Unfortunately, I need to mount it via iMac HD rather than directly for one of my programs to work correctly.

I have tried repairing permissions, and I have recursively set permissions on 'Shared' and its contents to allow everyone to read, write & execute, but none of this makes any difference.
