Power Point and other problems

My 14 year old did a Power Point presentation on my less than a year old iMac. When he tries to email it to his instructor it will not open. We have tried several different methods without success.

My wife has had trouble sending out resumes and has finally started sending them as PDF files. My wife is now totally against the Mac, I love it except for these problems.

Anyone have any suggestions? I want to stay a Mac guy.

What version of Mac Office are you using? Office 2008 will by default save PowerPoint and Word files in the newer format. Try saving them using compatibility mode. (Office 97 - 2003) Unless recipients are prepared to receive files in the newer formats and have the proper version or patch installed, they will be unable to open them.
