Airdisk with Time Machine

Can anyone advise if there is a current specific workaround to use an Airdisk to back up to with Time Machine? I know it is unsupported etc. but there are those out there who have been successful in getting it to work. I have a new 15" MacBook Pro and new Airport extreme with a 1TB WD My Book external HD. Have been trying for days to get this to work with no luck.
