highlight boxes and it appears I'm logged in twice

Hi All,
I'm new so VERY sorry if this is in the wrong area...I seem to be having 2 little problems with iMac that are driving me mental!!

First off it seems to highlight boxes an example:


Second - it appears I'm logged in twice!! I've gone in to accounts and it's only showing up as 1 account and I've disabled the guest account...any idea what the problem is?



my software is fully updated, i've restarted a few times and nothing seems to work...

I'm quite new to the world of macs so I'm sure it's me being a bit stupid...
but any help will be appreciated...

eta: the black solid boxes are obviously to protect my identity

I checked out your photos...especially the 2nd photo...but I'm at a loss as far as what to suggest. I've never seen that "double" stuff!

Just so we know...what version of the operating system software are you using?

If you don't know how to find this...go to the "Apple" menu, and choose "About This Mac".

It's Version 10.5.6

Sorry for wasting everyones time!!! I found the problem!! Seems voice over was on so clicked cmd & F5 and it's solved itself
