attachments files are saved automatically to Desktop

Hello, My mac is10.4.11

I'm using Thunderbird and Firefox.

Every time I open email attachment files or browse PDF files from browser.

All of the files are automatically save to Desktop.

How can I stop this?

2.66 GHz Intel Core 2 duo processor 4 GB of memory 300 GB HD imac, 8GB Ipod Touch 4th generation
Im not sure about Thunderbird since I don't use it but you should be able to solve your problem by opening the application and click on Thunderbird>Preferences.

As for firefox if you mean files you download are automatically saving to your desktop then click on Firefox>Preferences then check the box saying "ask me where to save downloads"
