• The Mac-Forums Community Guidelines (linked at the top of every forum) are very clear, we respect US law and court precedence when it comes to legality of activity.

    Therefore to clarify:
    • You may not discuss breaking DVD or BluRay encryption, copying, or "ripping" commercial, copy-protected DVDs.
    • This includes DVDs or BluRays you own. Even if you own the DVD or BluRay, it is still technically illegal under the DMCA to break the encryption. While some may argue otherwise, until the law is rewritten or the US Supreme Court strikes it down, we will adhere to the current intent of the law.
    • You may discuss ripping or copying unprotected movies or homemade DVDs.
    • You may discuss ripping or copying tools in the context that they are used for legal purposes as outlined in this post.

how do i export high quality small file size HD from FCE4?

hi,

i just want a smaller size, smaller window (not the massive window and file size) HD .mov, and this i want to be able to share with clients, and also upload directly to vimeo and youtube.

have been suffering here for days trying all sorts of things and encountering all sorts of 'failures'. definitely not the happy movie making experience as depicted in apple's marketing materials.

does anyone know the magic secrets to successfully creating a standalone HD .mov that can just live on my hard drive or on a server, posted to a blog or shared via email, ftp etc with people at a reasonable file size??

it seems like something that should be 4 or 5 clicks to fruition. can't believe how arcane this is turning out to be.

thanks!

I think you want;
File-->Export-->Using QuickTime Conversion...
Format: QuickTime Movie
Options...

The Options lead you to the custom settings for your requirement. See my iMovie Export Guide for more on that. Via the path you can set size, codec, data rate, etc.

You may want to review my YouTube guide also.
