I have a dmg that I am trying to backup to an external drive but it keeps giving me a window saying it will not let me. The file is almost 7 gb. I am running OSX 10.5.6 leopard. Any help would be great.

If your external drive is formatted as FAT32, it has a 4GB file size limit. You'll not be able to back it up to that drive.

I'm going to assume that the dmg is a legal copy of CS4.

You will have to format the drive with an appropriate filesystem - try HFS+.
