Hi all,

I have an 8800GT Akimbo that's about 6mo to at most 8mo old. It was one we had bought my wife for her old computer when she was having framerate problems in a game she enjoys. I have since built her a new computer, and I am soon to be receiving my Mac Pro...

So my question is - can I use my 8800GT Akimbo card in my Mac Pro, or does the video card have to have some special / specific bios to make it work with a Mac?

I'd really love to use my existing card if I could as it would save me the several hundred dollars it would take to buy an 8800...

Tips / pointers are most welcome. I'm just returning to the Apple world after about an 18 year absence :D

Here's some info on flashing the card to work in your Mac Pro. I'd do a lot of reading before I tried flashing it.

Hey, thanks for the link - it answered all of my questions! Now I just need to power up the antique the card is sitting in and see if I have one with enough space for the efi bios.

*EDIT*: I've checked out my card, and luckily it does have the large enough flash to be able to update the bios, I've done that, now I'm just waiting for my mac pro to show up, and I have to get my hands on a molex power -> 6pin connector on my card adapter (can't seem to find the original that came with the card).
