I have a white MacBook and I used a q-tip with alcohol to clean dirt/fingerprint/smudges from the casing and keys... worked really well for me.

As for the LCD, I'd say a micro-fiber cloth.

I would strongly advise against using alcohol when cleaning plastics. It will do the job, no question. But, it also melts and softens the plastic. This will lead, in time, to it becoming more and more susceptible to holding on to dirt. Any dirt that attaches itself to the plastic while in it's softened state will become a permanent fixture of the plastic itself as it hardens again.
