Hi,

I am having problems with OS X 10.3.9's Disk Utility application recognising my external DVD burner connected via Firewire. I have Toast 7 installed, which picks it up without issue. However Disk Utility refuses to recognise the drive when I attempt to burn a CD.

Any guidance would be greatly appreciated.

Regards,

Go to Apple System profiler and see if the burner appears there. If it is Mac compatible and recognised as native, try Repair Permissions.

Hi,

Thanks for the post. Ok, the drive is recognised in the System Profiler. It shows up in Disk Utility when a CD inserted. The Repair Permissions option is greyed out for the CD drive. Still no closer to burning via Disk Utility...

Any alternatives would be greatly appreciated.

Regards,
Kevin

Permissions are stored in and repair permissions would be run on your system drive not the CD drive.

Thanks again.

Repaired disk permissions but still no joy. Disk Utility does recognise the DVD Drive in the left hand window (indicated by a yellow icon in the drives list), however the burn function will still not recognise the drive...

Could this be a compatibility issue with Toast 7?

Regards,
Kevin
