hi,

i was wondering if it was a simple process in being able to temporarily connect a disc drive to my iMac G4.

being a dome type tower i thought it might be too difficult? i am struggling to run on my mac any disc that would repair the problem i'm having at the moment on the system and wondering by holding down the Alt button during start up i would be given a choice to then run the disc drive.

if this doesn't work then i am at a complete loss maybe using an external disc drive via a USB might solve the problem but i am unsure

i hae tried holding down c during start up and going into single user mode fsck -y -f but that doesn't fix the problem but it does show that i have overlapped extent allocton in the catalog file which may explain why the hard drive is playing up??

thanks for reading and if anyone can help please get in touch

Can't see why it should be that difficult, I've had mine apart a few times. Just make sure you use heatsink compound where needed when you put it back together.
