Taking pics of screen - shadow?

Hi,

When I take a pic of part of the screen into clipboard and paste it into Word there is often a darker part at the top of the picture, if I repeat the process it varies in width and sometimes (thankfully) disappears completely.
Does anyone know how to cure this?
Thanks in advance..

no and I'm not sure what you mean by triangles either..Thanks for your reply anyhow.
A pasted picture has an opaque band of various widths at the top.
Thanks again

Try placing the picture in a different program, if it doesn't have the same problem then it's something to do with word, if it is then you can at least search the web for related problems of this nature to the word program. Hope this is of help !!

nbn22385,

I was browsing your screen shots. How do you get this type of interface on the OSX desktop? Like this:

Serious question here.

How do you grab a screenshot? Is there a button you can press like Print Screen on the PC or are you using special software?

Many thanks.

If you look in the system preferences/Keyboard & Mouse then click on the keyboard shortcuts tab you can find the keyboard commands for taking screenshots. Their are also programs that do the same thing but then with more file format saving features like 'snaps pro' 'snap'n'drag' and also ones that work while watching DVD's.

Yes, go for it.

Is it possible that it's a problem with your monitor, try testing it with an LCD screen tester or just open a program like photoshop fill the screen with one colour and then do a full screen preview !

No it's definitely not the screen - the problem is localized to the pasted image only.
Now where's the help menu for this forum....?!

thanks
